According to the Bible, what does it tell us about Smoking? Billions around the world smoke and many think it's not a sin. Because no where in the bible does it pacifically state that smoking is wrong or right. But if we truly read the bible with wisdom and understanding from the Lord. What will it reveal?
I will leave you with Bible Scriptures and let the Lord Work on Your Heart and Mind.
Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.
It falls under "Thou shalt not kill.". Not only are you hurting and potentially killing yourself, but you are doing the same to those around you.
Galatians 6:7-8 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
Smoking is not just a wrong against one’s health, but also it is a sin of defiling God’s temple after salvation. After you are genuinely saved, going back to smoke is destructive to your spirit, soul and body, it defiles God’s temple – your body, and it attracts God’s judgment. The Bible does not address smoking since tobacco plants were only known in Europe and Asia after widespread colonization of the Americas began. The Bible does say that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and, to some, that means you should not smoke.
How does smoking affect your body? Other effects of tobacco smoke on the body include: irritation and inflammation of the stomach and intestines. increased risk of painful ulcers along the digestive tract. reduced ability to smell and taste. premature wrinkling of the skin. higher risk of blindness. gum disease (periodontitis).
What are the effects of cigarette smoking? Smoking and Respiratory Disease
Lung diseases caused by smoking include COPD, which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis. 1,2
Cigarette smoking causes most cases of lung cancer...
If you have asthma, tobacco smoke can trigger an attack or make an attack worse...
Smokers are 12 to 13 times more likely to die from COPD than nonsmokers...
How does smoking harm your health? About 70 of them are known to cause cancer. Smoking cigarettes is the number-one risk factor for lung cancer. But, smoking can affect your entire body, and is known to cause cancer in the: Lungs. Trachea. Bronchus. Esophagus. Oral Cavity. Lip.
Why is smoking bad for you? Tobacco smoking cigarettes are bad for health because it contain tar and toxins which are harmful for our lungs.
Ways to Quit
Make a plan
Set a date
When you try to quit smoking, with or without CHANTIX, you may have symptoms that may be due to nicotine withdrawal, including urge to smoke, depressed mood, trouble sleeping, irritability, frustration, anger, feeling anxious, difficulty concentrating, restlessness, decreased heart rate, and increased appetite or weight gain.
Most former smokers quit without using one of the treatments that scientific research has shown can work.10 However, the following treatments are proven to be effective for smokers who want help to quit:
Brief help by a doctor (such as when a doctor takes 10 minutes or less to give a patient advice and assistance about quitting)
Individual, group, or telephone counseling
Behavioral therapies (such as training in problem solving)
Treatments with more person-to-person contact and more intensity (such as more or longer counseling sessions)6
Programs to deliver treatments using mobile phones12
Medications for quitting that have been found to be effective include the following:
Nicotine replacement products
Over-the-counter (nicotine patch [which is also available by prescription], gum, lozenge)
Prescription (nicotine patch, inhaler, nasal spray)
Prescription non-nicotine medications: bupropion SR (Zyban®), varenicline tartrate (Chantix®)6
Counseling and medication are both effective for treating tobacco dependence, and using them together is more effective than using either one alone.
If you fail the first few times, don't stop, keep going till you quit. God knows if your trying or not and how hard you are if you are. He is your very help during this trail. You can do this Amen!
God, may whoever is reading this that it touches their hearts to be willing to try to turn from this stronghold. Lord God be their help during this time. Give them the strength it is they need and lift them up to be strong at this time of trail. Thank you lord for helping setting them free in the name of Jesus Amen!
